FinTeens: students will develop interactive financial literacy materials for teens

CSR Ukraine, an expert organization CSR Development Center, together with the UKRSIBBANK BNP Paribas Group launched the competition “FinTeens: Generation of financially independent”. The opening took place in an online format, 12 student teams received a task, took part in the “Design Thinking” session, and discussed the criteria for the competition and further actions.

on the topic of financial literacy. Each team of students will work with mentors — UKRSIBBANK BNP Paribas Group experts.

“During quarantine, 55% of people who stop receiving income have savings for less than a month, 17% for 2 months, and 8 and 9% for 3 months and six months, respectively. Therefore, financial literacy training from school is an important educational tool in process of bringing up financially independent people,” said Marina Saprykina, Chairman of the Board of the Center for CSR Development and initiator of the Competition.

“UKRSIBBANK, as the bank of the future, is aimed at cultivating financial literacy from childhood,” said Yanina Olkhovska, Director of Communications, CSR and Engagement, UKRSIBBANK BNP Paribas Group. – As part of the global financial group BNP Paribas, our purpose is creating the bank with high standards and a positive impact on the environment and society. We do understand the importance of the financial literacy, so we have decided to support this competition. On the one hand, we attract students to search for creative solutions, provide them the opportunity to develop useful materials for teenagers, and also engage them to collaborate with bank mentors. On the other hand, we get materials for schoolchildren that can teach them financial literacy.”

Teams from more than 20 Ukrainian universities took part in the competition, among them 12 teams that represent universities of Kyiv, Kriviy Rig, Lutsk, Ternopil, Mariupil and other cities. In May, teams will present projects and developed materials during the final. The organizers will choose the winners according to the criteria of financial literacy, practicality, originality and innovativeness. The main prize is Apple tablets for each member of the winning team.
