UKRSIBBANK organized a meeting with a world expert for customers of agricultural sector

In February, UKRSIBBANK BNP Paribas Group organized a meeting for its best corporate clients in the agricultural sector with a leading global industrial expert, a specialist from Geneva, Switzerland, Alain Butler.

Alain Butler spoke about trends in the agricultural sector, supply and demand in the market, as well as about environmental friendliness and sociality, global government regulation. One of the main accents was the topic “Ukraine as a food supermarket or a chain of commodity supplies”. After all, the agricultural sector is one of the strategic directions of the Ukrainian economy.

Alain Butler, BNPP Geneva: higher demands of customers require traceability&sustainability from food producers as result push them to secure the quality and go deeper in supply chain, while farmers and agri traders are developing a processing capacities to increase margins of the business.

During a meeting with clients, the guest from Geneva discussed important topics for the development of agro economics:

  • global grain market fundamentals and trading environment;
  • grains consumption patterns vary between commodities;
  • demand for grains grows with population and diet changes;
  • grain supplies are concentrated and grow with better yields;
  • grains are structurally traded.

Alain Butler joined BNP Paribas in 2010 as Senior Advisor on Soft Commodities. Industrial and technical expert on soft commodities for the bank, he conducts due diligence throughout the world, provides market insights, and can be exposed to represent the bank externally. During his career with the leading French multinationals Danone and Rhodia, he held management positions in research and development, finance and purchasing. Most recently, he worked as a Senior Project Manager with Roland Berger Strategy Consultants in Shanghai, advising both international and local clients on how to improve their operations and streamline their processes. Alain Butler graduated from the Ecole Polytechnique, a top engineering and business school in France, and holds a Ph.D. in Molecular Genetics in the laboratories of the Ecole Normale Supérieure of Paris. He also provides intercultural services for Chinese and Western businesses as a certified professional coach.
