UKRSIBBANK WINS 2021 SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT PARTNERSHIP CONTEST BY UN GLOBAL COMPACT

In 2021 UKRSIBBANK BNP Paribas Group won the UN Global Compact 2021 Partnership for Sustainable Development Contest and collected an award in the category Society. The bank was selected among 23 finalists for its contribution into education and development of visually impaired children.

The 2021 Partnership for Sustainable Development Awards took place in Kyiv in early December and involved representatives of about 100 companies. On behalf of the bank, the award was collected by Yanina Olkhovska, Director for Communications, Social and Corporate Responsibility and Engagement of UKRSIBBANK.

The UN Global Compact awarded the bank for the project Seeing the Invisible which is part of the charity program World On Touch. The project aims to provide blind people with modern books. This year as many as 500 copies of J. Rowling’s book Harry Potter and Chamber of Secrets were printed in Braille. The books were distributed among 25 libraries and educational institutions for the visually impaired. In addition, the bank financed audio descriptions for the film name “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets”, which allows blind children to reproduce the plot of the video through the audio description.

UKRSIBBANK joined the World On Touch charity program in 2016. Since then, it has supported printing of books in Braille, including: Alphabet, Cat in Boots, Health and Safety, 100% Boy, 100% Girl, Knights of the Pure Planets, Phenomena of Nature, Harry Potter and Chamber of Secrets “.

UKRSIBBANK joined the UN Global Compact in Ukraine in October 2021 and commited to implementation of 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Annually the UN Global Compact in Ukraine holds the Partnership for Sustainable Development Contest among its member-companies. The international jury selects 80 finalists and 12 winners in four categories: Society, Planet, Peace, Economic Development.
