2000 women registered and attended free online seminars “Women in business” from UKRSIBBANK

More than 2,000 women registered and attended five free UKRSIBBANK BNP Paribas Group Women in Business online seminars in November and December this year.

Following the principles of sustainable development and maintaining the gender balance in business, the bank for the second year in a row holds seminars for women who want to start their own business or bring it to a new level of quality. To do this, the bank invites market experts and organizes events that are interesting and useful for all who seek professional development, want to gain new knowledge or strengthen their expertise. This year, the bank held a series of seminars on actual topics for business development: company management – current trends, approaches, business scaling in new realities, Internet marketing – whether there is a life without a digital network, business development and balance in personal life. Due to the pandemic, all events were online.

Today in Ukraine, women are the owners and managers of only 25-26% of small and medium-sized businesses. This is in line with world figures. However, international studies argue that this is not enough. After all, gender balance in business helps to better understand the needs of the market, in large organizations contributes to a better decision-making process, so in conclusion women’s professional skills, their psychological characteristics and skills as entrepreneurs contribute to active economic development.

According to surveys, in Ukraine almost 70% of women say that they would prefer their own business to being an employee. But they are stopped by a lack of knowledge in management, strategic planning, marketing, confidence that business and parenting can be combined, a cautious approach to risk, and the unavailability of finances.

“UKRSIBBANK launched the Women in Business program last year to help women develop their entrepreneurial potential so that they can use their talent, skills, and creative approach for a better future for both themselves and Ukraine’s economy as a whole. History knows many examples of talented entrepreneurs succeeding in business, starting only with the idea and desire to develop – says Yanina Olkhovska, Director of Communications, Corporate Social Responsibility and Engagement UKRSIBBANK BNP Paribas Group. “The number of registrations for our seminars and the positive feedback inspire us to continue the project and we already have ambitious plans to develop the Women in Business program next year.”

As part of the international financial group BNP Paribas UKRSIBBANK is an active promoter of sustainable development, including the idea of gender equality. By supporting various socially important events, the bank seeks to help women boldly take the first steps in business, as well as develop their business, bring it to a new level of profit.

We remind that this year the UN Global Compact in Ukraine included the UKRSIBBANK Women in Business program in the Voluntary National Review of Progress in Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
