30 years of microfinance at BNP Paribas — major shareholder of UKRSIBBANK

BNP Paribas plays an active role in the fight against banking exclusion by granting loans to microfinance institutions, that enable them to make micro loans.

This year, the Group is celebrating a milestone: 30 years of providing microfinance institutions with financing and services. In line with its corporate social responsibility policy, BNP Paribas has become one of the most active banks in this sector. Indirectly, the Group helps ensure the financial inclusion of individuals who, thanks to a micro loan, are finally able to start or develop their business and thereby improve their standard of living. In three decades, the Group’s support to its microfinance partners has reached a more-than-respectable 900 million euros (total amount of loans granted).

Today, BNP Paribas indirectly finances 2.2 million micro-borrowers worldwide, including 1.8 million women. A digital exhibition devoted to these women entrepreneurs highlights their determination and ambition, not to mention their business projects.
