UKRSIBBANK BNP Paribas Group continues to support Ukrainian entrepreneurs in realizing their plans, remaining a reliable financial partner in achieving their goals. According to various researches, 95 % of women-owned businesses have been negatively impacted since the start of the full-scale invasion.
Challenges include the effects of natural disasters and pandemics, problems entering the international market, and unstable economic conditions in Ukraine. 26 % of women-owned businesses have seen a decrease in the number of clients, 18 % have suspended operations, 12 % have seen a decrease in the number of orders, etc. Businesses also suffered direct losses, which ranged from UAH 100,000 and sometimes could reach more than UAH 5 million. At the same time, the number of new sole proprietorships started by women is growing. According to Opendatabot, since the beginning of 2023, women in Ukraine have opened 154 thousand new sole proprietorships and headed more than 10 thousand new companies.
The number of women entrepreneurs has grown most noticeably since the beginning of the autumn: women now account for 60 % of new sole proprietors. For comparison, in 2021, businesses started by women accounted for 49 % of the total number of new businesses. In mid-November, the number of new women sole proprietors was already higher than in all of 2021: 154,388 women entrepreneurs versus 141,575. And the total number of new sole proprietors in 2023 is already higher than in 2021: 274,859 vs. 262,933.
UKRSIBBANK BNP Paribas Group has been supporting women’s entrepreneurship since 2019 through the «Women in Business» program. Every year, the bank organizes free online mentorship seminars for women who want to start or take their business to the next level. The bank is also actively involved in projects that promote entrepreneurship in Ukraine, in partnership with the Franco-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the European Business Association, and Diia.Business, where entrepreneurs can get advice on business development and starting their own business.
