UKRSIBBANK held IT Security Champ 2022

For young and smart specialists in the field of cyber security, UKRSIBBANK BNP Paribas Group held a case championship, where the best received an invitation to an interview with the opportunity to be employed by the bank.

All applicants underwent thorough a selection and 50 participants were invited to the event. Among them, there are students and graduates of various higher educational institutions in Ukraine who know what Windows, Linux and ActiveDirectory are, understand the working principle of network protocols of the OSI model and speak English.

At first, the bank’s experts told the listeners about UKRSIBBANK in general and then moved on to the field of cyber security. The participants learned information about cyber attacks, their purpose and modern countermeasures. We discussed together why state or commercial institutions and banks are most often attacked, shared examples of cyber attacks worldwide and their consequences.

The most common methods of cyberattacks used by criminals, how they can be countered and with what tools were discussed separately.

Then the participants were united in teams. For several hours, they worked on tasks that were prepared for them by professionals from the world of cyber security from UKRSIBBANK. Then the teams presented their decision options to the jury. In the end, those who scored the most points received an invitation to an interview with further employment in the IT security department.

IT Security Champ 2022 is an opportunity for 4-6 year students and graduates in cyber security, software engineering, applied mathematics and related fields to gain helpful knowledge about the work of a large international organization, have interviews with bank employees and learn about that set of skills and tools that an IT security professional should have.

For many years, UKRSIBBANK has been implementing programs for students to develop talented young people and involve them in the development of the Ukrainian banking sector together. Most of the «stars» remain working in the bank or enter the talent development program and pursue a career. In 2021, the Bank received the certification of «Youth-friendly Employer» companies within the framework of the «Pact for Youth – 2025» initiative and the «Dream and Act» program.
