UKRSIBBANK has launched ReNewSpace Project: joint renewal for the future

In 2023 UKRSIBBANK BNP Paribas Group launched a large-scale Project for renovation of the Bank’s largest buildings and premises, located in Kyiv. This Project covers the following four key aspects:

  • renovation of premises and buildings to make thereof more modern and energy efficient;
  • creation of comfortable work conditions for employees;
  • transfer of carefully dismantled materials to the medical-, and social institutions of Ukraine in cooperation with the Charitable Foundation «Promoting the Development of Medicine»;
  • transfer of furniture and equipment to socially significant organizations.

We look at all operational processes with a focus on sustainable development goals. Therefore, by renovating the working space for our colleagues, we wish to support the society and economy of Ukraine, while taking care of the environment. Renovation of the Bank’s Offices is an investment in the economy of Ukraine. At the same time, we select responsible suppliers and partners who are also focusing on sustainable development and energy efficiency to reduce the carbon effect on the environment. By dismantling windows, doors, partitions, ceiling tiles, etc., we do it carefully to hand them over to medical-, and social institutions for furnishing the premises. After all, we all understand that these days, under the martial-law conditions, a lot of socially important premises have been damaged and need maintenance. By aiding thereto, we also contribute to the fact that more Ukrainians can receive proper medical care in their communities. The selection of such institutions is carried out by our long-term partner, the charitable foundation «Promoting the Development of Medicine».

Investments in the Ukrainian economy

To renew the premises and buildings, the Bank concludes contracts with Contracting Organizations that hire workers and purchase appropriate construction materials. Thus, the Bank supports hired workers and their families, as well as manufacturers of construction materials. At the same time, the State receives taxes for local budgets. All this spurs the development of the Country’s economy.

A Sustainable Development approach and Charity

Within the scope of the Project, various institutions will be able to receive carefully dismantled structures from the Bank’s Office premises on a free-of-charge basis. These include windows, doors, ceiling tiles, etc. The Project Partner – “Promoting the Development of Medicine” Foundation hands over the materials to medical-, and social institutions of Ukraine so that they can improve or restore the damaged premises and provide services to Ukrainians in proper conditions. The Foundation accepts requests from institutions and distributes construction materials. The first institution that received such materials was a clinic in Kyiv, at 5Б Velyka Kiltseva street.

It should be noted that UKRSIBBANK additionally invests in careful dismantling in order to transfer materials in good condition to medical institutions that need it, while extending their useful life. On the one hand, this is a positive contribution to society, and on the other – minimization of environmental pollution. After all, construction materials decompose over a long period of time in natural conditions and are one of the most dangerous sources of soil and water pollution.

The Bank has been implementing various projects for the country’s medical industry jointly with the «Promoting the Development of Medicine» Foundation for more than 10-year period. And this includes support for hospitals during the COVID-19 pandemic, purchase of personal protective equipment, medical equipment, trips of mobile laboratories to the Chernihiv region, support for orphans and children with special needs to the New Year holiday, etc. And now the long-term cooperation will be supplemented by another project aimed at environmental care and sustainable development.

Ensuring energy efficiency of a modern workspace

By organizing the premises renewal of UKRSIBBANK, the PARE team took care that the office premises were equipped with a modern heating-, and air conditioning system, which would allow efficient operating the air flows, setting a comfortable temperature, and saving the resources for heating-, or cooling the premises.

A replacement of windows for modern ones has also been planned, which helps avoiding heat loss, and the construction materials for the ceiling, walls and floor will be ecological. At the same time, some elements will be reused, for example, glass partitions will separate meeting rooms in the renovated office premises.

Creating better work conditions

As a responsible Employer, UKRSIBBANK takes care of its employee’s welfare, creates decent and comfortable working conditions, healthy, efficient, and ecologically clean working environments. Annually, the Bank’s team expands, and after renovation, the premises will become even more functional: there will be more places for communication, comfortable rest areas and cozy meeting rooms.

Since 2006, UKRSIBBANK has become a part of the International financial BNP Paribas Group, which is a leader in sustainable financing in Europe having a 200-year history and an ambitious Corporate and Social Responsibility Policy. Sharing the aspirations and ambitions of the Shareholder, UKRSIBBANK emphasizes the importance of 17 Sustainable Development Goals and 10 Principles of the UN Global Agreement through its operational activity and daily work to promote the strengthening of the Ukrainian economy, positively effecting the development of society and taking care of the environment. International experts claim that timely renovation of premises and buildings helps reducing greenhouse gas emissions and taking care of the environment. By replacing windows, insulating walls, and using more energy-efficient heating and air-conditioning systems, one can significantly reduce energy loss and avoid excessive resource consumption. Reuse of materials helps taking care of the environment, and for Ukraine it is also an opportunity to support those who especially need it.
