Updated design with a unique story: how the Silver Coin card now looks like

UKRSIBBANK BNP Paribas Group has updated the design of the Silver Coin charity card, adding a drawing by an artist with Down syndrome to its cover.

The updated Silver Coin card design features a drawing by Maria Isakova, a person with Down syndrome. Like many other people, she had to leave her home in Mykolaiv to seek refuge. The girl’s fear and anxiety changed along with the scenery outside her window – instead of explosions, she heard birds singing and observed a cosy tiny house in the picturesque Carpathians. She found comfort and confidence in the future and later captured these feelings on paper.

Silver Coin charity card is an opportunity to do good deeds during every trading transaction because UKRSIBBANK transfers UAH 1 from transactions to the All-Ukrainian charity organisation “Down Syndrome” to support families with people and children with Down syndrome. The organisation uses these funds for ongoing psychological support for families and classes for children with a speech therapist, correctional teacher, physiotherapist, and neuropsychologist. Clients’ donations also provide families with literature and particular materials for children’s development.

Earlier, through cooperation with the organisation, the bank equipped a specialised centre for the early development of children with Down syndrome, distributed speech and reading development programmes, seminars and comprehensive diagnostics, provided children and parents with specialist consultations, printed particular literature and provided grants for the implementation of inclusive regional projects to improve the quality of life of children and people with Down syndrome.

Supporting families affected by Down syndrome is important at all times, and even more at present when all Ukrainians have to overcome the daily challenges of war. And parents need even more support, as they are the ones who care about the well-being, life and health of their children. Over the years of cooperation with the Down Syndrome All-Ukrainian charity organisation, we have done a lot of good deeds and continue to help. We are happy that now each of our clients can join in and do good deeds with us by simply paying for goods or services with a card.

Any family can have a child with a disability, including Down syndrome. The parent’s age, social status or health condition does not cause it. It is impossible to postpone learning, development, and emotions of joy. It is essential to help families at this time. Thanks to the support of the bank and its clients, we continue to do our job and support our beneficiaries.

Tetiana Pavliuk
Vice President of the All-Ukrainian Charity Organisation "Down Syndrome"

The bank launched the charity card project in 2013, and customers have already ordered it more than 45,000 times. Every year, for three months, the bank’s customers, partners and employees raise funds to support initiatives, projects, and methods for the development, education and socialisation of people with Down syndrome in Ukraine, as well as to raise awareness of how to interact with people with disabilities. Initially, the branches collected coins, which the bank gave to the needs of the Down Syndrome All-Ukrainian Charitable Foundation. The idea to transfer UAH 1 from each transaction to help charity arose then. In 2023 alone, customers made more than 650 thousand transactions.

The cooperation between UKRSIBBANK BNP Paribas Group and the Down Syndrome Foundation began in 2009. The Silver Coin Initiative is in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, in particular, Goal 3 “Promote healthy lives and well-being for all and at all ages”, and Goal 17 “Partnership for Sustainable Development”.
